Team name filter: backtest one team or player

The team name filter keeps only matchups featuring the team you enter, whether it plays home or away. In player sports like tennis, the same filter targets a specific player.

What the team name filter does

Type a name and the strategy only considers matchups featuring that team, home or away. In tennis and other individual sports the same mechanic targets a player. It is the narrowest scoping filter in the builder, and sometimes the narrowest is exactly right: some of the most persistent betting patterns are team-specific, because style, management and market perception belong to clubs, not leagues.

Why single-team angles exist

Markets price teams through a lens of reputation, and reputation lags reality in both directions. A big-name club in decline stays overpriced for seasons; an unfashionable overachiever stays underpriced. Style creates patterns too: a team that plays chaotic, high-tempo football produces overs regardless of results, and a defensive specialist prints unders. Fans sense these patterns; a backtest proves or buries them. The team name filter is how you ask precise questions like "has backing this team's matches over 2.5 goals actually been profitable at real odds?"

Example strategies

  • Test a single-team overs system: one club's matchups, an odds range on the totals price, and years of history as the verdict.
  • Combine two team name leaves with OR logic to build a small portfolio of "always entertaining" or "always underestimated" teams and track them as one strategy.

Combining it with other filters

A team defines the universe; conditions define the entry. Add rest days to only bet the team on adequate rest, a result streak to catch it in specific form states, or a favorite side condition to separate its performances as favorite from its performances as underdog. Browse public strategies for inspiration on how builders scope team-level ideas. This filter is available on the free Explorer plan.
