Rest days and fatigue betting filter
The rest days filter keeps matchups where a side has a chosen number of whole days of rest since its previous match. Setting min and max to 1 isolates back-to-backs, the classic fatigue spot.
What the rest days filter does
The filter counts the whole days between a side's previous match and the upcoming one, then keeps the matchup when that count falls inside your band. A minimum alone expresses "well rested", a low band expresses "short turnaround", and min 1 with max 1 nails the back-to-back, two matches on consecutive days. The side can be home, away, or the semantic favorite or underdog.
Why rest is a real, measurable edge
Fatigue is one of the most documented situational factors in sports. Basketball back-to-backs are the canonical example: tired legs show up directly in shooting and defense, and markets have not always priced the effect fully. In soccer, three matches in eight days force rotation and flatten pressing intensity. The beauty of rest as a signal is that it is objective, known in advance, and independent of narratives: the schedule is the schedule.
Example strategies
- Fade road teams on a back-to-back in basketball, especially when the line value filter shows the market pricing the game close.
- Back teams coming off 7 or more days of rest against opponents who played midweek, a spot where freshness meets a fatigued opponent.
Combining it with other filters
Rest rarely works alone; it works against a context. The rest advantage filter compares the two teams' rest directly, often a sharper signal than an absolute count. Match density asks the complementary question, how many matches piled up recently, catching congestion that a single rest gap misses. An odds range keeps the price segment fixed so the backtest isolates the fatigue effect. Rest days is a Pro filter.
