Basketball rest advantage betting strategy

Basketball is a legs game. This template pairs a rested home team with schedule limits on the opponent, priced on the main spread at standard odds.

No major sport punishes schedule congestion like basketball: back-to-backs, road trips and four-games-in-six-nights stretches show up directly in shooting percentages. This template builds a rest profile for the home side, constrains the opponent's recent workload, and then insists on a fair price.

How the filter tree works

  • Rest days: the home team has had at least 2 full days off since its last game.
  • Match density: the away team has played at most 3 games in the last 7 days.
  • Odds range: the home side's price on the main spread must close between 1.85 and 2.00, standard vig territory.

What to watch

  • Rest edges are the most heavily studied angle in basketball; modern lines adjust for schedule spots explicitly, so the raw edge has eroded.
  • Two days off is common for home teams, so that condition passes many games; the density cap does the real narrowing.
  • Load management and roster depth blur what rest means for stars versus role players.

Tweaks to try

  • Require 3+ rest days for a stronger differential.
  • Flip the logic to study tired road teams from the other side.
  • Combine with the spread band from the heavy-favorites template.
