Winning and losing streak betting filter
The result streak filter keeps matchups where a chosen side arrives on a current run of consecutive results: wins, losses, draws or their opposites, with a minimum and optional maximum length. It turns "team in form" into a testable rule.
What the result streak filter does
The filter looks at a side's most recent matches and checks that every one of them ended the same way: win, draw, loss, or the looser non-loss, non-win and non-draw variants. You set the minimum streak length, optionally cap it with a maximum, and choose the side: home, away, or the semantic favorite or underdog resolved from the opening odds. You can also restrict the history to home or road matches only, which matters because a "home fortress" streak and a general streak are different signals.
Why streaks matter, both ways
Streaks are the most visible form signal in sports, and the market knows it, which is exactly why they are interesting. Sometimes a streak is real information the price has not fully absorbed; sometimes it is noise the public overprices, creating value on the other side. A streak filter lets you test both hypotheses instead of arguing about them: back the momentum, or fade it, and let the data decide.
Example strategies
- Fade the streak: bet against away teams arriving on five or more straight wins when they are priced as favorites, a classic regression angle.
- Ride the collapse: target home underdogs facing a favorite on a long unbeaten run, where the favorite's price gets squeezed by public money.
Combining it with other filters
A streak says little without a price attached. Pair it with an odds range so you know whether the market already charges for the form. Add last N result rate to require broader form beyond the raw streak, or head-to-head streak to test whether the run extends to this specific opponent. This is a Pro filter.
