Home win streak betting system, backtested
Momentum in its purest form: the home team has won its last three matches in a row. The backtest tells you whether the market underprices a hot hand.
Win streaks are the most visible form of momentum, and the market certainly sees them too. The interesting question is not whether teams on a streak win often, it is whether their price still leaves room for profit once everyone has noticed the run.
How the filter tree works
- Result streak: the home team must arrive on a winning streak of at least 3 matches, counted across all venues, home and away alike.
Nothing else is filtered, so the template isolates the streak effect on its own.
What to watch
- Streaks end, and they end at short prices. A few losses at low odds can erase many small wins.
- Streak teams are usually favorites, so the closing price already bakes the form in. You are testing the market's pricing of momentum, not discovering it.
- Longer minimum streaks shrink the sample fast. Check how many bets each season actually produces.
Tweaks to try
- Raise the minimum streak to 5 and compare the curve.
- Scope the streak to home matches only for a fortress angle.
- Add an odds floor so you never take extreme short prices.
Treat this as a starting hypothesis for soccer, then let backtesting on Pinnacle closing odds deliver the verdict.
