What the H2H results rate filter does

Instead of general form, this filter looks only at history against the specific opponent of the upcoming matchup. It computes the share of the side's last 5, 10 or 20 head-to-head meetings that ended with your chosen metric, win, draw, loss or their opposites, and keeps the matchup when that rate clears your minimum. You can scope the history to home or away meetings, and, crucially, set a minimum sample size: a team that won its single prior meeting shows a meaningless 100 percent rate, so requiring 3 to 5 meetings keeps the statistic honest.

Why head-to-head history matters

Some pairings really do have structure: styles that clash, a pressing side that suffocates a possession team, a rival fixture where the underdog always turns up. Markets price teams mostly on general strength, so persistent matchup effects can slip through. But head-to-head is also the most abused statistic in betting media, quoted from samples of two or three games. This filter forces the discipline the TV graphics skip: a defined window, a defined metric, and a sample floor.

Example strategies

• Back home teams that won at least 60 percent of their last 10 meetings with today's visitor, priced above 2.20: history the price ignores.
• Target draw-rich pairings: a high draw rate over the last 10 meetings feeding a draw-price strategy in soccer.

Combining it with other filters

H2H should confirm an angle, not carry it. Combine it with last N result rate so current form and matchup history agree, or with the H2H streak filter when you care about the most recent meetings specifically.
