Averages Available from the Pro plan

Goals average betting filter for team totals

The average filter keeps matchups where a team's mean scored or conceded over its last N matches falls inside your band. It is the level-based counterpart to hit-rate scoring filters.

What the goals average filter does

The filter computes the arithmetic mean of a team's goals over its last N matches, on the side you choose: scored, to measure attacking output, or conceded, to measure defensive solidity. The matchup is kept when that mean falls inside your min and max. It adapts to every sport's scale, goals in soccer and hockey, points in basketball and other sports, so the same logic drives totals angles everywhere.

Average versus hit rate

An average summarizes level; a hit rate summarizes consistency, and totals bettors need both. A side averaging 2.4 goals scored might get there steadily or through occasional blowouts, which is why this filter pairs so naturally with scoring rate, the share of matches clearing a threshold. Use the average to define the profile, high-scoring attack, leaky defense, locked-down unit, and the rate to demand the distribution behind it. Averages also move earlier than season tables: a defense that just lost its anchor shows up in a 10-match conceded average long before the full-season number degrades.

Example strategies

  • Keep matchups where both teams average at least 1.8 goals scored over their last 10, as the engine of an overs strategy.
  • Build an unders angle on teams conceding under 1.0 goals on average, then verify the price with an odds range on the totals line.

Combining it with other filters

Scoring averages mean little out of context: scope them with a league filter because baseline scoring differs by competition, and cross attack against defense, home team's scored average versus away team's conceded average, to describe the matchup rather than one side. In soccer, the mxG filter offers a market-implied expected-goals alternative that strips out finishing luck. This is a Pro filter.
