HockeyGoals & scoring
Hockey over 5.5 goals betting strategy
When both teams always score, totals climb. This template pairs a very high both-teams-scored rate with the over 5.5 at a fair price.
Shutouts are what kill hockey overs. A team whose games almost always see both sides score is a team whose games rarely die at 2-0, and that is precisely the profile this template demands before taking a high total.
How the filter tree works
- BTTS rate: in at least 85% of the home team's last 20 games, both teams scored, with a minimum of 10 games in the window.
- Odds range: the over 5.5 goals line must close between 1.75 and 2.10.
The BTTS condition supplies the goal environment; the odds window makes sure you only pay a fair price for it.
What to watch
- 5.5 is a demanding total; both teams scoring guarantees only 2 goals, not 6. The filter removes shutout risk, it does not manufacture goals.
- Goaltending changes flip this profile overnight; a hot backup turns an overs team into an unders team.
- 85% of 20 is 17 games, a genuinely strict bar; expect a selective sample.
Tweaks to try
- Loosen the rate to 75% for volume and compare.
- Add a goals-average floor to strengthen the scoring case.
- Test the same signal against the over 6 line when it is offered.
