MLB and baseball betting strategy backtesting
Backtest baseball betting systems on five years of Pinnacle closing odds, from MLB to NPB and KBO, using run lines, totals and team totals.
What you can backtest in baseball
Baseball is a 2-way sport on Pinnacle: there is no 3-way moneyline, and rare ties settle the moneyline as a push. On five years of closing odds you can test:
- Moneyline on either team
- Run lines at 1.5, the dominant spread, plus 2.5 as an alternate
- Game totals from 6.5 to 10.5 runs
- Team totals from 2.5 to 5.5 runs
Every simulated bet settles against the real closing price for that game, as explained in how backtesting works.
Filters that shine for baseball
Baseball is the highest-volume daily sport, which makes statistical filters especially powerful over a long sample:
- Team form and win-loss streaks across the 162-game grind
- Odds range and implied probability, including fixed totals at 7.5, 8.5 and 9.5
- Closing vig and league liquidity to focus on sharp markets
- League result rates for home-field tendencies
Popular baseball angles
Bettors test plus-money underdogs on the run line, unders in low-total pitching duels, fading heavy favorites, and streak-based systems that back or fade hot teams. Explore the full filter catalog or fork a public strategy, free to start.
